Version 2.0 of Vimeo’s App for Android has been released today, which is a complete rebuild of the app optimized for Android phone and tablets.
Vimeo’s Android App has been in hibernation for the past few years. The company now has a dedicated Android team and is ready to start releasing products for Android users.
Here’s a quick run-down of what’s new in the Android app:
- Complete UI/UX Rebuild – Vimeo took feedback from its community and redesigned the entire UI to make it easy to navigate, easy to discover and enjoy Vimeo on Android
- Upload Anywhere– Vimeo began its rebuild by making the upload process as simple, intuitive, and fast as possible. Creators now have the option to control privacy on video while uploading from Android, including password protection, selecting who can view the video
- HD Playback – Vimeo completely rebuilt the Android Vimeo player to ensure all important video information such as plays, likes, and comments are visible at a glance, but they’ve also made it really easy for users to follow other video creators.
- Explore curated categories – Every day, Vimeo’s human-powered curation team sifts through mountains of fantastic video content to select Staff Picks, covering categories like Animation, Sports, Documentary, and more. Android 2.0 brings all those categories to mobile.
